MovieMentor is a Hit with PDA-Toting Movie Buffs; New Version Adds Top Ten Lists of Now-Playing and On-Video Movies
Ottawa, Canada via MobilityNewswire) July, 2003 -- MovieMentor, Inc. announces an upgrade to its recently launched MovieMentor, a subscription-based service that automatically installs updated information for over 2,000 newly released and classic movie and video titles to Palm OS PDAs. The new version provides Top Ten lists of box office and video rental hit movies.
MovieMentor automatically updates subscribers' handhelds with a list of the top 2,000 movies. The company adds new movies each week, guaranteeing users the most up-to-date information on box office hits and video store releases. All movies have been rated by MovieMentor's on-staff reviewers who attribute each film with a value from 1 to 99.
"As avid movie buffs, we constantly ask ourselves what can we do to make it easier to pick a movie to rent or see at the theater," said Bill MacSween, president of MovieMentor, Inc. "It is very frustrating to spend hard-earned money on a bad movie experience, and our goal is to create the ultimate tool to improve the entertainment value of going to the theater or renting a video."
Updating MovieMentor is easy. Subscribers simply synchronize their Palm OS handhelds with PCs that have Internet connections and MovieMentor automatically updates the PDA database with information and reviews of the newest movies. Titles are sorted according to the MovieMentor rating order, with the best rated films at the top of the list. Subscribers can also choose to have the movies sorted according to a more traditional 1 to 5 star rating system.
The MovieMentor database is divided into 16 genres (from Action to Western), and also includes lists of currently running movies, recent video releases, upcoming films and classics. To access a plot summary and information on the cast and director of the film, or to check out a review and rating, subscribers simply tap on the title of the film.
MovieMentor has made the database very easy to use, with a search feature that enables subscribers to find movies based on title, plot, director, cast and/or user-entered notes. It also enables users to customize the order in which movies appear and create personalized lists, such as favorite movies they would like to recommend to friends.
An annual subscription to MovieMentor is only $11.95 per year and a free trial version can be downloaded at MovieMentor.com.
