Indian Kids Finally Get TO Make Their Own Movies At The Blue Mango Movie Makers Workshop

August 25, 2004 -- Youth Filmmaking has become a very popular phenomenon in the West. Many prestigious festivals are now supporting young filmmakers , below 18 years of age, and creating special screenings and awards for their work. Children as young as 3 years, are shooting films, which are being screened at various festivals. Blue Mango Young Moviemakers Workshop aims to popularize the concept in India and make Indian kids a part of the global youth film scene.

Blue Mango Young Moviemakers Workshop is offering an after-school program to educate children about film as a creative medium. The Workshop hopes to expand the next generation's vision of what is possible, while teaching useful creative and technical skills. This course will be one of the most rewarding extra curricular activities that any young person can engage in.

The aim of the course is to allow children to express and channelize their creativity and thoughts through the process of movie making. At the end of the course, they would not only have learnt about the art and science of moviemaking, but will also have finished projects that would be of immense value to them in the future.

Making movies gives children reasons to believe in themselves. It gives them focus, confidence and creates a medium through which they can express their inner-most thoughts. It also teaches them some valuable lessons of life. They begin to understand that teamwork and discipline go hand in hand with achievement and success.

Kids will be taught the basics of filmmaking and shall get to make their own movies. They will also be part of the first 3D film made by kids.Immersive Television Solutions, Dubai,is providing technical support for the 3D venture.

Blue Mango Young Moviemakers Workshop is supported by three of the most prestigious international Youth and Kids Film Festivals. These are the Westport Youth Film Festival, Ojai Youth Film Festival and the Tower Of Youth Film Festival. The best films from the workshops will be sent as entries to these festivals, and gain vast international exposure.

At the end of the first workshop, there will be a Blue Mango Young Moviemakers Festival of all the films made by the students. Parents, film enthusiasts, other kids, educational institutions and members of the press will be invited to this event, which will be the first of its kind in India.
