New Website Lets Moviegoers Send e-Cards About Films

May 8, 2004--Moviewebcards.com gives movie fans a quick and easy way to tell their friends about the movies they've seen or movies they want to see. The site lets users send e-cards containing photos of current and upcoming movies and DVDs that can optionally include the storyline, release date, rating and other movie information. Rated a "Hot Site" by USA Today in March, the service is free and is located at www.moviewebcards.com.

In addition to the e-cards, each movie page on moviewebcards.com contains: background information about the movie (including MPAA rating, genre, the director, stars, writers, the storyline and a critics' rating), access to local movie showtimes, and links to browse related items on eBay, rent or buy movies on DVD or VHS, or buy a movie poster.

"Moviewebcards.com is a fun way for friends to tell friends about movies," said Philip Bishop, who developed and manages the site. "They can use the e-cards to encourage a friend to see a great movie they've seen. Or to stay away from a terrible movie they've just suffered through. Or to remember a movie they've shared together. At moviewebcards.com, a picture really is worth a thousand words."

Bishop added. "In addition to being a fun communication tool, moviewebcards.com also provides movie fans with a quick visual and textual synopsis of a movie. They can take in a movie at a single glance."

The site can also be of service to distributors of movies on a tight budget, he said. They can link to their movie's page on moviewebcards.com to generate publicity, or even have cards custom made.

Visitors can suggest movies they want to see included on moviewebcards.com and they can sign up to be sent an email when an upcoming movie's e-cards are on moviewebcards.com.
